Artist Statement
My art is an exploration of the intersection between high-quality, valuable art and the thin line between the renaissance and contemporary. Through my work, I aim to infuse art with the elegance and timelessness that are the hallmarks of NWOBI. My creative process is driven by the constant pursuit of impossible perfection, a journey inspired by my surroundings and nurtured by my education. Each piece I create is a reflection of my inner world, a canvas where I pour my thoughts and feelings. I am drawn to acrylic, oil, and other mixed mediums as they allow me to breathe life, meaning, and value into every artwork. Through the deliberate inclusion of “missing skin fragments” the series confronts the viewer with the profound gaps in our efforts towards women’s equity and empowerment. The subjects in “Resilient Fragments” represent the unbreakable spirit of women who persist, despite the obstacles they face. Garden of Eden:
In “Garden of Eden,” the timeless story of humanity’s origin unfolds with a captivating twist. Within this lush paradise, the serenity of Eden is disrupted by an enchanting scene—a reimagined narrative where Cupid, the symbol of love, offers forbidden grapes to Eve. As the snake curls around Cupid’s hands, poised for its fateful bite, we are reminded of the age-old story of temptation and the choices that define our destiny. This artwork invites viewers to contemplate the complex interplay of love, desire, and consequence in the idyllic Garden.
Clouds of Eden:
“Clouds of Eden” takes us on a Renaissance-inspired journey through the realms of imagination. By weaving characters from iconic Renaissance paintings into the fabric of Eden, the series breathes new life into classical art. Here, the lead female from Raphael Sanzio’s “Voyage of Galatea” and a male member from “The Council of Gods” come together to participate in the enigmatic and eternal tale of Eden. This reimagining expands the canvas of history, blending the classical and the mythical in a seamless portrayal of timeless beauty and allure.Together, “Garden of Eden” and “Clouds of Eden” invite us to explore the enduring narratives of love, temptation, and artistry. These artworks beckon us to see familiar stories through a fresh lens, where the past and present converge to create a captivating vision of Eden’s mysteries.
Bio
I am Nwobi, a Nigerian-born artist. Art has been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it continues to be my primary means of self-expression.
My fascination with art began when I was young, influenced by my surroundings and the constant quest for perfection. Since then, I have honed my skills, acquiring master class degrees and certifications in art from some of the best tutors in London and Florence. Over the years, my work has been featured in exhibitions and has gained recognition for its quality and value.
When I’m not in my studio, you can often find me immersed in the world of fashion, enhancing my color palette and embracing the versatility of art through the use of textiles and leather . I draw inspiration from the blend of creativity and aesthetics in both art and fashion.
